FAQ

Welcome to Elizabeth Obsesses!
Hi there and welcome!  Thanks for checking out my FAQ page.  I get a lot of emails asking all sorts of questions.  Here is a list of some of some of the most popular questions and my answers.   If you have a question that is not answered here, feel free to contact me.

Why did you start Elizabeth Obsesses?
I love to cook, write, and take photos!  I also want to help spread the word that cooking can be fun!  You don’t have to stick strictly to the recipe to get a good outcome.   A lot of my recipes are cooked with what’s on hand and easily accessible.  I like to think of it as freestyle cooking.  It’s ok to experiment in the kitchen, and it’s ok to fail too!  Some of my greatest learnings have come from my most spectacular failures.  It’s important to be able to laugh at your mistakes and keep at it until it works.

I found a typo - should I tell you about it?
Yes, please!  While I try to carefully edit every post before publishing it, I do make mistakes.  If you see an error, send me an email to let me know.

Who takes the photos for Elizabeth Obsesses?
I do!  In rare instances, my husband or one of my children will volunteer to take a shot or two.  In those cases, it will be clearly noted within the text of the post who took the photograph.

Are you interested in reviewing or trying my product?
Maybe!  If it’s relevant to my blog, send me an email and we can talk about it.

What type of camera do you use?
The photos on this site are taken with a variety of cameras.  I’ve been known to use an iPhone 5, a Canon Rebel xTi, but most often, I use a Canon 5DMII, which I adore.

Are the recipes on your site originals, or do you get them from other places?
The recipes I use on Elizabeth Obsesses come from a number of places, some are original, some are passed down through my family, and others are from magazines, websites, and cookbooks.  If I’m writing about a recipe that came from a source other than me, I will quote the source or link back to the website in the text of my post.

Can I share one of your recipes on my blog?
Yes, of course!  Thank you for asking.  My only request is that you don’t republish my content in full on your website or blog.   Use your own photos of the finished recipe, and write the recipe/post in your own words (please do not copy/paste) and provide a link back to the page on ElizabethObsesses.com where you found the recipe.

Can I use one of your photos on my website?
The photos that are on ElizabethObsesses.com are copyrighted.  If you would like to use one on your site, permission is required.  The only exception to this is if you are posting a roundup of recipes.  In that case, you may use the photo as long as it contains a link back to the original recipe on ElizabethObsesses.com

Are you interested in contributing material to my site, blog, etc.?
I love contributing recipes and photos to other sites!  Please email me to discuss.

Who developed your blog?
My site was designed by
Daphne Populiers of The Dutch Lady Designs.  I enjoyed working with Daphne and found her collaborative style to be a perfect fit, especially because I wasn’t sure what I wanted when we started working together.  She listened to what I wanted to accomplish and developed my branding package.  I highly recommend her.

What type of mixer, food processor, or blender do you use?
Please visit the Toolbox page where I have compiled a list of my kitchen equipment and gadgets as well as photography equipment.
